All-on-X Dental Implants in Del Mar

All-on-X Dental Implants in Del Mar

Losing most or all of your teeth changes more than how you chew. It changes how you speak on a call, how you smile in photos, and whether you feel like yourself at dinner with friends. For our Del Mar patients living with failing teeth, loose dentures, or years of patched-together dental work, All-on-X implants offer a way to move past temporary fixes and back into a full, stable smile that stays put.

All-on-X is an umbrella term for a full-arch restoration supported by dental implants. Instead of replacing each missing tooth with its own implant, we place a small number of implants into the jawbone and anchor a complete arch of teeth onto them. The result is a fixed set of teeth for the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both — teeth that don't come out at night, don't slip while you eat, and don't rely on adhesive or suction to stay in place.

The "X" stands for the number of implants used, and that number is chosen based on your anatomy and your goals. We offer both All-on-4 and All-on-6 at our practice. All-on-4 uses four implants per arch, often angled strategically to take advantage of available bone, which can make it a good fit for patients with some bone loss who want an efficient, well-established approach. All-on-6 uses six implants per arch, spreading the load across more anchor points. That extra support can be helpful for patients with strong bone volume, a heavier bite, or a preference for maximum stability. Neither option is automatically better — the right answer comes out of your scans, your bite, and your priorities, and we walk Del Mar patients through the comparison in plain language before anything is scheduled.

Most people considering full-arch implants fall into a few familiar situations. Some have worn dentures for years and are tired of the movement, the sore spots, and the food restrictions. Others still have their natural teeth but are facing multiple failing restorations, advanced decay, or gum disease that makes saving individual teeth impractical. Some are simply exhausted by the cycle of one crown, one extraction, one repair at a time.

Candidacy comes down to bone, gum health, and overall readiness. Adequate jawbone matters because implants need something to integrate with, and we evaluate that carefully during your consultation. If bone volume is limited, bone grafting is something we offer to help build a foundation before implant placement. Habits like smoking, uncontrolled health conditions, and untreated gum disease all factor into planning as well. Because we offer a complimentary consultation, Del Mar patients can get a clear, honest read on whether All-on-4, All-on-6, or a different path makes the most sense before committing to anything.

What the Process Looks Like

Treatment begins with planning, not drilling. We take records, review your bite and facial proportions, and map out where implants should go and what your new teeth should look like. Because our practice was built around coordinating cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics under one roof, Dr. Darian Anderson designs full-arch cases with your whole face in mind — proportion, lip support, and how the smile reads when you talk and laugh, not just tooth shape on a model.

From there, the sequence generally includes:

  • A consultation and diagnostic workup, including discussion of All-on-4 versus All-on-6
  • Any necessary extractions and, when indicated, bone grafting
  • Surgical placement of the implants into the jaw
  • A healing period while the implants integrate with the bone
  • Delivery of your final fixed arch, with adjustments to perfect fit and bite

Healing timelines vary from person to person, and we set expectations for yours during planning rather than promising a one-size-fits-all schedule. Follow-up visits let us monitor integration and comfort at each stage.

Caring for Your New Teeth

Implant-supported teeth still need daily attention. Brushing, cleaning thoroughly underneath and around the arch with the tools we recommend, and keeping regular professional visits are what protect the gum and bone supporting your implants long-term. Patients often find the routine simpler than managing removable dentures, but it isn't hands-off.

In the early weeks, we guide you through a softer diet and comfort measures, then gradually expand what you're eating as healing progresses. If anything feels off — a sore area, a change in your bite — we want to hear about it early, when it's easy to adjust.

Payment and Financing for Del Mar Patients

We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service practice and do not take insurance. We welcome self-pay and cash patients, and we offer financing through Cherry so full-arch treatment can be spread into manageable payments.

Your complimentary consultation includes a clear breakdown of what your specific plan involves and what it costs, so you can make the decision with real numbers in hand. We're glad to serve patients from Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, La Jolla, and throughout San Diego.
