A hollow under the eye, a flattening cheek, a lip that's lost its border, a fold that deepens a little more each year — these are volume changes, not surface ones, and no cream reaches them. Dermal fillers are injectable gels placed beneath the skin to restore or add volume where the face has lost support, refine contour, and soften lines that stay visible even when your face is at rest. Because we plan filler alongside cosmetic dentistry in the same studio, we look at how the lower face, lips, and smile relate to each other before anyone picks up a syringe.

Faces change from the inside out. Fat pads shift and shrink, bone remodels, and skin loses some of its scaffolding — so the mid-face flattens, shadows appear under the eyes, the corners of the mouth turn down, and the jawline blurs. Filler addresses that loss directly by replacing volume in specific planes and areas, which is a different job from neurotoxins, which relax the muscles that create movement lines. Many people benefit from both, and we're happy to explain which concern belongs to which tool rather than defaulting to one.

The people we treat come in with very different goals. Some want lips that look like their own, just more defined or hydrated in appearance. Some want the cheek support they had a decade ago so the mid-face doesn't cast shadows in photos. Some are focused on the chin or jawline for better profile balance. And some are already planning veneers or a smile makeover with Dr. Anderson and want their lips and lower face considered as part of that design — a coordination that's genuinely hard to get when your dentist and your injector have never spoken. Sarah Garces, NP-C, our Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and facial balancing specialist, approaches every plan with restraint, and our Medical Director, Monica Kieu, D.O., FACS, oversees the medical side of our aesthetic care.

Good candidacy starts with an honest conversation, which is why our consultation is complimentary. We'll ask what bothers you when you look in the mirror, review your health history and any medications or supplements that affect bruising, and talk through past injectable treatments. We'll also tell you when filler isn't the answer — if the concern is really about tooth position, worn edges, or the shape of your smile, dentistry may be the better starting point, and we can plan both sequences in one place.

It's equally important to know what filler can't do. It doesn't tighten skin, and it isn't a substitute for surgery when significant laxity is the main issue. Results are not permanent; hyaluronic-acid-based fillers gradually break down, and how long that takes varies by product, placement, and individual metabolism. We'd rather build gradually and reassess than overfill in one visit — that restraint is the philosophy the practice was founded on. Some patients also pair filler with microneedling over time to address skin texture, which volume alone doesn't change.

Aftercare and What Results Look Like

Expect to look like yourself with a little swelling for the first few days, and know that mild bruising, tenderness, or small firm areas are common early on and typically settle as the product integrates. We'll give you specific aftercare instructions at your visit, and a few general habits help most people:

  • Keep the treated area clean and avoid heavy pressure or massage unless we tell you otherwise
  • Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot yoga for the first day or two
  • Stay upright for several hours after lip treatment and use a cold compress for comfort
  • Hold off on facials, microneedling, or other facial procedures until we clear you
  • Call us with any concern that feels unusual — we'd always rather hear from you early

Much of the initial swelling resolves within the first week or two, and that's when the shape you'll actually live with becomes clear. We schedule a follow-up to look at your results in good light, discuss whether a small refinement would help, and plan the timing of future maintenance so your look stays consistent rather than cycling between full and flat.

Payment, Financing, and Booking

We're an out-of-network, fee-for-service studio and don't bill insurance, which keeps our treatment planning between you and your provider. We welcome self-pay patients, and for those who'd prefer to spread the cost over time, we offer financing through Cherry. You'll get clear numbers before you commit to anything.
