Cosmetic Dentistry in Encinitas

A chipped front tooth, years of coffee staining, or teeth that have shifted since high school — these are the everyday things that make people hesitate before smiling in a photo. Cosmetic dentistry exists to solve them, and for our Encinitas patients, it's rarely about chasing an unnatural look. It's about looking like a rested, well-cared-for version of yourself. Our studio brings cosmetic dentistry and medical aesthetics together under one roof so your smile is planned alongside the rest of your face, not separately from it.

Cosmetic dentistry covers any treatment focused on the appearance of your teeth, gums, and smile — color, shape, alignment, proportion, and how all of it frames your face. In our practice that includes teeth whitening (both in-office and take-home), porcelain veneers, composite veneers, clear aligners, and full smile makeovers planned with Digital Smile Design. Some patients need one small change. Others want a comprehensive plan carried out in stages.

What makes our approach different is the coordination. Dr. Darian Anderson founded this practice with Sarah Garces, NP-C, after seeing too many patients get veneers at one office, neurotoxins at another, and fillers at a third, with no one looking at how the pieces fit together. Here, dentistry and facial aesthetics are planned in concert when a patient wants both. That philosophy is grounded in restraint and artistry rather than doing the most treatment possible.

Most people who come to us from Encinitas fall into a few familiar categories. The first group has discoloration — teeth that have dulled from coffee, tea, red wine, or simply time. Whitening is often the entire answer, and we offer both an in-office option and take-home trays depending on how quickly you want results and how sensitive your teeth are.

The second group has structural concerns: chips, worn edges, uneven lengths, small gaps, or teeth that look too short relative to the gumline. Veneers, in porcelain or composite, address shape and color at the same time. The third group has crowding or spacing they've lived with for decades, and clear aligners let them correct it without traditional braces. A fourth group has missing teeth or a failing dentition and needs restorative work first — All-on-4 or All-on-6 implants, sometimes with bone grafting — before aesthetics become the focus.

Good candidacy usually comes down to healthy teeth and gums, realistic goals, and a willingness to maintain the result. We'll tell you honestly if a simpler treatment will get you where you want to go.

What the Process Looks Like

Everything starts with a complimentary consultation. We listen to what bothers you, examine your teeth and gums, and talk through what's realistic. For more involved cases, we use Digital Smile Design to plan and preview proportions before any permanent work begins — so you're agreeing to a direction, not hoping for one.

From there, the sequence depends on the treatment:

  • Whitening: a single in-office visit, or custom take-home trays with instructions for wear.
  • Clear aligners: records and scanning, then a series of trays worn on your own schedule with periodic check-ins.
  • Veneers: design and preparation, temporaries while your porcelain is fabricated, then bonding and final adjustments.
  • Implant-supported restorations: evaluation, grafting if needed, surgical placement, and a restorative phase.
  • Combined plans: dental treatment sequenced alongside neurotoxins, dermal fillers, or microneedling when facial balancing is part of the goal.

Aftercare is straightforward but matters. Whitening results last longer when you limit staining foods and touch up with take-home trays. Veneers need the same brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings as natural teeth, plus a nightguard if you grind. Aligner patients keep results with retainers. We go over all of this in detail so nothing is a surprise months later.

Practical Details for Encinitas Patients

We're an out-of-network, fee-for-service practice and do not bill insurance. That's a deliberate choice: it lets us plan treatment around what's right for your face and your goals rather than what a plan will reimburse. We welcome self-pay and cash patients, and we offer financing through Cherry for patients who'd rather spread payments out over time.

Alongside Encinitas, we care for patients from Del Mar, Solana Beach, La Jolla, and greater San Diego. Our team includes Dr. Anderson on the dental side, Sarah Garces, NP-C, for facial balancing, and Monica Kieu, D.O., FACS, as Medical Director. If you've been putting off a smile concern, the consultation costs nothing — start there and find out what's actually involved.
