Neurotoxins in Encinitas

Neurotoxins work by temporarily relaxing the specific muscles that create movement-related lines — the horizontal creases across the forehead, the vertical "11s" between the brows, the fan of lines at the outer corners of the eyes. When those muscles soften, the skin above them stops folding in the same way, and the lines that form with expression become less pronounced. It's a precise treatment, not a broad one, and the results depend almost entirely on where the product is placed and how much is used. That's the part we take seriously for our Encinitas patients.
Our Encinitas patients tend to want something specific: to look rested and like themselves, not frozen or obviously treated. That fits the philosophy our studio was built on. Sarah Garces, NP-C, is an Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Facial Balancing Specialist, and her approach is grounded in restraint — treating the face as a whole rather than chasing individual lines.
That whole-face thinking is also why we combined cosmetic dentistry and medical aesthetics under one roof. Darian Anderson, DDS, designs smiles here, and Monica Kieu, D.O., FACS, serves as our Medical Director. Too many people end up getting veneers at one office and neurotoxins at another, with no one looking at how the pieces fit together. If you're coming from Encinitas for neurotoxin treatment and you're also considering whitening, clear aligners, or veneers down the road, those conversations can happen in the same appointment with the same team.
Good candidates are generally adults bothered by dynamic lines — the ones that appear or deepen when you raise your brows, concentrate, or smile. Some patients come in with visible etching at rest. Others are earlier in the process and want to slow the deepening of lines that are just starting to show. Both are reasonable reasons to ask about treatment.
Candidacy is something we determine in person, not over the phone. We offer a complimentary consultation, which is where we look at your facial movement, discuss your medical history, and talk honestly about what neurotoxins can and cannot do. If your concern is volume loss or skin texture rather than muscle movement, neurotoxins may not be the right tool — dermal fillers or microneedling might address it better, and we'll say so. We'd rather tell an Encinitas patient that a different treatment fits their goal than sell them something that won't deliver.
What Treatment Day Looks Like
Appointments are short. We start by having you make a series of expressions so we can see exactly how your muscles move — where the pull is strongest, whether one side is more active than the other, how your brows respond. Then we map injection points based on what we observed on your face, not a standard template.
The injections themselves use a very fine needle and take only a few minutes. Most patients describe a brief pinch. Afterward, you can return to your day. Results are not immediate; the effect develops gradually over the following days as the treated muscles relax, and the full result becomes apparent after that settling period. Effects are temporary, so maintenance treatments are part of the plan for patients who want to keep their results consistent.
- A complimentary consultation before any treatment is scheduled
- A movement assessment to map injection points to your face
- A short appointment with minimal disruption to your day
- Gradual onset of results over the days following treatment
- A maintenance schedule discussed based on how your results hold
Aftercare and Keeping Results Consistent
Aftercare is straightforward, and we'll give you specific instructions before you leave. In general, we ask patients to avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for the rest of the day so the product stays where it was placed, and to stay upright for a few hours afterward. Minor redness or small bumps at the injection sites typically settle quickly.
We also encourage a follow-up conversation once your results have fully developed. That's when we learn how your particular muscles responded, and it informs how we approach your next appointment — sometimes with a small adjustment in placement or dosing. Over time, this is what makes results feel natural and predictable rather than variable from visit to visit.
Payment, Financing, and Scheduling from Encinitas
We're an out-of-network, fee-for-service studio and we do not take insurance. We accept self-pay and cash patients, and we're transparent about cost during your consultation so there are no surprises when you schedule.
For patients who prefer to spread payments out, we offer financing through Cherry. This is especially useful if you're combining neurotoxins with other treatments — dermal fillers, microneedling, or cosmetic dental work — as part of a coordinated plan. Encinitas patients are welcome to start with a complimentary consultation and decide from there, with no obligation to book treatment the same day.
