Cosmetic Dentistry in San Diego

You're in a photo with friends and you notice it again — the tooth that's a little shorter than the rest, the shade that's dulled over the years, the small chip from an old accident. Nothing about it is an emergency, and for years you've told yourself it isn't worth doing anything about. Then one morning you catch your reflection and realize you've been closing your lips in pictures for a decade. That quiet, cumulative frustration is what brings most San Diego patients through our doors, and it's exactly what cosmetic dentistry is designed to resolve.
Cosmetic dentistry is care focused on the appearance of your teeth and smile — color, shape, proportion, alignment, and how all of it frames your face. In our studio, that includes teeth whitening both in-office and with take-home trays, porcelain veneers and composite veneers, clear aligners, full smile makeovers, and All-on-4 and All-on-6 dental implants with bone grafting when the jaw needs additional support before implants can be placed.
What makes our approach different is that we didn't build a dental office and add aesthetics as an afterthought. Muse began as a conversation between Dr. Darian Anderson, our cosmetic dentist, and Sarah Garces, NP-C, our aesthetic nurse practitioner and facial balancing specialist. Darian had watched patients receive beautiful dental work that might have been even more impactful if their facial aesthetics had been planned alongside it. Too many people were getting veneers at one office, neurotoxins at another, and fillers at a third, with nobody looking at how the pieces fit together. Our answer was one studio, two specialties, one coordinated plan — with Monica Kieu, D.O., FACS serving as our medical director.
Most people considering cosmetic work fall into a few familiar situations. Some have healthy teeth that have simply darkened from years of coffee, tea, or red wine, and whitening alone gets them where they want to be. Others have worn or chipped edges, old bonding that no longer matches, or teeth that are slightly uneven in length — cases where veneers can rebuild shape and symmetry. Some San Diego patients are unhappy with crowding or spacing but don't want traditional braces, which is where clear aligners often fit. And some are missing multiple teeth or wearing dentures they've never liked, and full-arch implant solutions change how they eat and speak, not just how they look.
Good candidacy starts with a healthy foundation. Cosmetic treatment works best when decay and gum problems have been addressed first, and part of our job during your consultation is to be honest about sequencing. We offer a complimentary consultation so you can ask questions, hear what's realistic, and leave with a clear understanding of your options before committing to anything.
What the Process Looks Like
We begin by listening. Before we discuss veneers or whitening or aligners, we want to know what bothers you, what you like about your smile already, and what you want it to do for you. From there we examine your teeth, bite, and gum health, and we look at your face as a whole — proportion, symmetry, and how your smile sits within it.
Digital Smile Design lets us plan and preview your result visually, so you're not guessing. Here's what you can generally expect:
- A complimentary consultation focused on your goals and a full look at your oral health
- Digital planning and design so you can see the direction before treatment begins
- A written plan with sequencing, timeline, and cost discussed openly
- Treatment appointments paced to your schedule and the work involved
- Follow-up to confirm fit, comfort, bite, and shade
Because our medical aesthetics services — neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and microneedling — are available in the same studio, patients who want their facial treatments coordinated with their smile design can have both planned together rather than in isolation.
Aftercare and Keeping Your Results
Cosmetic results last longest when they're maintained. Whitening responds well to periodic take-home touch-ups, especially for patients who drink coffee or tea daily. Veneers are cared for much like natural teeth: consistent brushing and flossing, regular cleanings, and avoiding using your teeth as tools. If you grind at night, tell us — protecting your investment matters.
For implant patients, healing is a staged process, and we'll walk you through diet, hygiene, and follow-up visits at each phase. We're available for questions between appointments.
Payment and Financing for San Diego Patients
We're an out-of-network, fee-for-service studio and we don't bill insurance. That choice lets us plan treatment around your goals rather than around coverage limits. We welcome self-pay and cash patients, and we discuss full cost before treatment begins — no surprises.
For patients who prefer to spread payments over time, we offer financing through Cherry. If you're in San Diego and weighing whether cosmetic dentistry is worth exploring, the consultation is complimentary — come talk it through with us.
