Cosmetic Dentistry in Solana Beach

A chipped front tooth, years of coffee staining, or a small gap that shows up in every photo — these are the details that bring most Solana Beach patients into our studio. Cosmetic dentistry is the work of correcting those specifics: the shape, color, alignment, and proportion of your teeth, planned so the result suits your face rather than a generic idea of what a smile should look like. That last part matters to us. We built this practice around the belief that a smile should be designed in concert with the rest of your features, not in isolation from them.
Cosmetic dentistry covers a range of treatments, and the right one depends entirely on what's bothering you. Teeth whitening, available both in-office and as a take-home system, addresses discoloration from coffee, tea, wine, and ordinary aging. Porcelain veneers and composite veneers reshape teeth that are chipped, worn, uneven, or permanently stained. Clear aligners handle crowding, spacing, and mild-to-moderate alignment issues without traditional brackets. For patients who need more comprehensive change, a smile makeover combines several of these into one coordinated plan.
We also use Digital Smile Design, which lets us map and preview your proposed result before any permanent work begins. Instead of describing an outcome and asking you to imagine it, we can show you the design and refine it together. For Solana Beach patients who have been considering cosmetic work for years but hesitated because they weren't sure what they'd end up with, this step tends to be the turning point in the conversation.
Most healthy adults are candidates for something in the cosmetic range, but the honest answer depends on your starting point. Active decay or gum problems need to be addressed before cosmetic work goes on top of them. Significant tooth loss may point toward restorative options like All-on-4 or All-on-6 dental implants, sometimes with bone grafting to rebuild support. Someone whose only concern is yellowing may need nothing more than whitening.
Here's where our structure helps. Dr. Darian Anderson handles the cosmetic dentistry, and Sarah Garces, NP-C, an aesthetic nurse practitioner and facial balancing specialist, handles the medical aesthetics side, including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and microneedling. Monica Kieu, D.O., FACS, serves as our Medical Director. If your goals involve both your smile and your surrounding facial features, you don't need to coordinate between separate offices — that planning happens in one place.
What the Process Looks Like
Everything starts with a complimentary consultation. We listen to what you want changed, examine your teeth and bite, talk through the realistic options, and explain what each one involves in terms of time, appointments, and reversibility. Some treatments are conservative and additive. Others, like porcelain veneers, permanently alter tooth structure, and we want you to understand that clearly before you decide.
From there, a typical path looks like this:
- A consultation where we assess your teeth and discuss your goals at no cost
- Digital Smile Design planning, so you can see and adjust the proposed result
- Any preparatory work needed before cosmetic treatment begins
- The treatment itself, scheduled across as many visits as your plan requires
- A follow-up to check fit, comfort, and appearance
Aftercare is usually straightforward. Whitening results last longer when you limit staining foods and drinks and use your take-home trays for touch-ups. Veneers are cared for much like natural teeth — regular brushing, flossing, and cleanings — though we'll ask you to avoid biting hard objects and to wear a nightguard if you grind. Clear aligners require consistent daily wear and retainers afterward to hold the result. We go over all of this specifically for your treatment, and we're available if something feels off between visits.
Payment, Financing, and Getting Started
We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service practice and do not take insurance. That choice lets us control the time we spend on each case and the materials and labs we use, without a third party dictating the plan. We welcome self-pay and cash patients, and we offer financing through Cherry for patients who prefer to spread treatment across monthly payments.
Because the consultation is free, there's no cost to find out where you stand. You'll leave knowing what your options are, what each would involve, and what it would cost — information you can take home and think about without pressure.
We serve Solana Beach along with Del Mar, Encinitas, La Jolla, and the greater San Diego area, and we schedule with the understanding that most of our patients are fitting appointments around work and family. If you've been putting off a conversation about your smile, we'd be glad to have it.
