Dermal Fillers in Solana Beach

A hollow under the eyes, a fold that deepens from nose to mouth, lips that have slowly lost their border — these are the changes that tend to bring Solana Beach patients into our studio asking about filler. Volume loss happens gradually, and it rarely announces itself in one place. By the time it's noticeable, the face has usually shifted in several small ways at once, which is exactly why we assess the whole face before we ever pick up a syringe.
Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to restore or add volume to specific areas of the face. Rather than relaxing muscles the way neurotoxins do, fillers work by physically supporting tissue — replacing what time has thinned out, refining a contour, or softening a line that has settled into the skin. Common areas include the cheeks, the lips, the folds around the mouth, the chin and jawline, and the temples.
What makes our approach different is the setting. Muse was built as one studio with two specialties, because we kept seeing patients get veneers in one office, neurotoxin in another, and filler in a third, with no one looking at how the pieces fit together. Sarah Garces, NP-C, is our aesthetic nurse practitioner and facial balancing specialist, and she works alongside Darian Anderson, DDS, our cosmetic dentist. Monica Kieu, D.O., FACS serves as our medical director. For a Solana Beach patient considering both a smile change and facial treatment, that means one coordinated plan instead of three separate opinions.
Good candidates are generally adults in good health who have noticed volume loss, asymmetry, or a specific feature they'd like refined. Filler suits a wide range of situations: someone in their thirties who wants subtle lip definition, a patient whose midface has flattened over the past decade, or someone who feels their chin doesn't balance the rest of their profile. It also pairs naturally with cosmetic dentistry — when the framework of the smile changes, the surrounding facial structure often reads differently too.
Filler is not the right answer for everyone or for every concern, and we'll tell you that directly. Our philosophy is grounded in restraint. If a concern would be better addressed with a different treatment, or with nothing at all right now, that's the recommendation you'll get. The complimentary consultation exists precisely so Solana Beach patients can explore the question without any financial commitment.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Your consultation begins with conversation and a full-face assessment. We look at proportion, symmetry, how your features relate to one another, and how your smile fits into the picture. From there we map out which areas to address, in what order, and whether treatment should be staged over more than one visit.
Treatment itself is done in our studio and is typically straightforward.
- A thorough facial assessment and discussion of your goals before anything is injected
- A treatment map showing which areas we plan to address and why
- Cleansing and preparation of the injection sites
- Precise placement of filler, with checks along the way for symmetry and balance
- A final review together so you can see the result and ask questions
- Clear written aftercare instructions before you leave
Because we keep the pace unhurried, most visits feel more like a planning session with a treatment attached than a rushed appointment. That's intentional — patients deserve more than quick, transactional care from providers who aren't really looking at the whole face.
Aftercare and Settling In
Swelling, tenderness, or small bruises at the injection sites are common in the first days afterward, and we'll go over what's typical for the specific areas treated. We generally ask patients to avoid pressing or massaging the treated area unless instructed, to skip strenuous exercise and heat exposure for a short period, and to sleep with the head slightly elevated if there's noticeable swelling.
Results take a little time to settle as any initial swelling resolves. We'd rather you wait and see the true outcome than judge it on day one. If something feels uneven or you have a question during that window, reach out — we'd much rather hear from you early than have you wonder.
Payment and Financing for Solana Beach Patients
We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service studio and do not take insurance. That's a deliberate choice: it lets us set our own pace and plan treatment around what a face actually needs rather than around coverage limits. We welcome self-pay and cash patients.
For those who prefer to spread out the cost, we offer financing through Cherry. You'll have a clear picture of pricing before scheduling any treatment, discussed during your complimentary consultation. Along with Solana Beach, we see patients from Del Mar, Encinitas, La Jolla, and greater San Diego.
